dryfly.ca started as a website for sharing one of my DIY projects, a stitch and glue kayak. Since then I've added several more projects including a skin-on-frame kayak, cedar strip canoe, kayak paddles, canoe paddles, building a spey rod, and an antenna for receiving OTA HDTV. I also occasionally ramble on about politics, technology, bike racing, product reviews and last but not least, our kids.
Click on the Photo Gallery to lots of my pictures in their full glory, including family, friends, boat building, travels, etc.

This past Sunday I spent the best $50. We hired a cleaner to come to our house and wash the floors, windows, window sills, bathroom, kitchen and dust the living room shelves. She did a great job, it took her 3.5 hours.
Some other “best money I ever spent” includes:
1. best 3 Gilders I ever spent was going to the Heineken factory in Amsterdam
2. best $1900 I ever spent was buying my Rocky Mountain Summit in 1991.
3. best 50 Baht I ever spent was staying in the White Sands bungalows on Lamai beach, Ko Samui, Thailand
4. best $900 I ever spent was buying our Nikon D50 digital slr
5. best 25 rupees I ever spent was getting apple crumble on Annapurna Circuit in Nepal
6. best spenditure ever was spending time with our family!
That’s all that pops into my head right now in the past 5 minutes. I’m sure I’m missing a lot more. Maybe I’ll do some more “best of” posts in the future.

Yesterday Mercy and Emma were taking a nap in the afternoon. I was tired too and wanted to take a nap. Grady, on the other hand, seemed intent on playing. I asked him, “Do you want to take a nap Grady?” His response was, “No, I can’t. Mommy and Emma have paginas, and they’re sleeping. Me and daddy have penises and we can’t sleep.”

Why can’t we just go ahead and legalize pot? If nothing else, think about what it would do to organized crime.
