It could have been figuring out how to change a colour of something, or how to add a photo that fades away, or anything. It was just the process of figuring out something that was interesting. I actually do have some spare time these days. Once the kids are in bed at 8pm I'm generally too tired to do anything (exercise, work on the canoe), so now I either read or dick around with the computer.
